Understanding Medicare
Everything you need to know about Medicare plans, enrollment, and how to get the most from your coverage.
What Is Medicare?
Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people 65 and older, as well as certain younger individuals with disabilities. It helps cover hospital stays, doctor visits, prescription drugs, and more.
Parts of Medicare
Part A – Hospital Insurance
Covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and some home health care.
Part B – Medical Insurance
Covers doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, and medical supplies.
Part C – Medicare Advantage
An all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare offered by private companies. Often includes Part D and extra benefits like dental and vision.
Part D – Prescription Drug Coverage
Helps cover the cost of prescription drugs, including recommended vaccines.
Medigap (Medicare Supplement)
Medigap policies help pay some of the costs that Original Medicare doesn't cover, like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. These plans are sold by private insurance companies and can reduce your out-of-pocket expenses.
